Dennis E. Eriksen. 76, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver. He was born March 12, 1939, in Brush, to Eldon & Fern Eriksen. Dennis graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1958. He attended Colorado State University from 1959 - 1960. On February 6, 1961, Dennis joined the US Army where served until his honorable discharge on January 27, 1964. He was stationed in Augsburg and Kaiserslautern, Germany for two and a half years and received the rank of SP/4. After being honorably discharged from the US Army, Dennis farmed until 1970. He then started an auto body and paint shop in 1971 in Brush. He later moved his shop to Hillrose. During the time Dennis was involved in collision repair, he taught at Morgan Community College from 1077-1978. After closing his shop in Hillrose, Dennis worked in Greeley until ill health forced him to retire. Dennis enjoyed traveling. He especially enjoyed traveling to, and throughout Europe. He visited Europe on 3 different occasions after his military discharge. He also enjoyed building high performance engines and restoring old cars. Dennis spent many hours playing his Baldwin organ. He was an accomplished dancer, designing his own choreography which drew crowds of on-lookers who were left spellbound. He was frequently asked if he was a dance instructor. He also enjoyed watching football and boxing. He was well known for his beautiful flower gardens that he enjoyed immensely. Dennis will be remember by many for his generosity. Dennis was a life member of BPOE #1143. He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 43 years of sobriety. Dennis married Clara Maison in 1970. They later divorced. Survivors include his son, Kirk Erikson of Brighton, Erika Ghumm of Denver and a step-daughter Sheri Fain of Georgetown, KY. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell and his parents. At Dennis' request, no formal funeral service will be held. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory was entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
