Dennis L. Nelson passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in Greeley after a lifelong illness. He was born to Curtis & Evelyn Nelson on May 21, 1935, in Jackson, Minnesota. Dennis worked as a farmer with his Dad until graduating from Jackson High School in 1954. After high school he moved to California and worked at an airport. He met his beloved wife, Judith Darr, and they married on November 22, 1969. They were married for 44 years and blessed with 2 daughters, Christine & Carrie. The moved to Colorado and have livied in Weldona for the past 42 years. Dennis worked as a mechanic and electrician all of his adult life. He absolutely loved to build; woodworking, rebuilding and adding to their home, always out in the shop tinkering, and repairing vehicles. He loved to spend time with his family, his pets, and especially enjoyed sitting outside in his chair. Survivors include his wife, Judy and his loving daughters, Christine and Carrie of Denver; his grandchildren, Christopher, Kaleb, Aprel, Penni, Samantha, Taylor, Harley, Matthew, Michael, Madison; and his great grandson, Quinton. Also by his sisters, Susan Coe and Karen (Jerry) Vacura; his brothers, Dean Nelson and Gary Nelson and his sister-in-law, Pat Nelson. He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Nelson; and his parents Curtis & Evelyn Nelson and Esther Nelson. A memorial of his life will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan on Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 AM. The service will conclude at the church Friends who wish may make memorial gifts in Dennis' name c/o Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Avenue, Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
