After a valiant battle, Mrs. Dianna Pfeifer, 79, succumbed to cancer June 4, 2024, at her Fort Morgan home surrounded by family.

Dianna was born July 17, 1944, in Lusk, Wyoming, the second daughter and third of four children born to Daniel V. and Marie (Eberle) Morse. In early 1955, the family moved to Brush, CO, where Dianna graduated from Brush High School in 1962, participating as a baton twirler in the high school marching band. Dianna then attended the University of Northern Colorado (then Colorado State College) with a focus on business education while minoring in home economics.

Upon graduating early and returning to Morgan County, she both worked in the private sector and completed a student teaching stint at Fort Morgan High School. It was on the latter assignment that she met Harold Pfeifer; their first date was as chaperones to a FMHS Homecoming Dance, and they would marry in 1966. Dianna would begin her own educational career at Wiggins High School, teaching courses in general business and serving as a faculty advisor to the high school chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Concurrently, she and Harold started a family with son Blaine born in 1974 and daughter Lana arriving in 1978. The family enjoyed many small-town events together including sporting activities (particularly golf and bike rides), sampling local restaurants (Mouse's House, La Paloma, Home Plate), school-related events (choir concerts and sports competitions), church services and holidays, and summer vacations to visit relatives in Colorado and tourist attractions (such as Disney World and Disneyland) across the country.

Retiring from Wiggins in 1991, Dianna continued to work as a test center coordinator for Morgan Community College until officially retiring in 2009. Free time both pre- and post-retirement was spent playing golf, participating in athletic classes, attending musicals and concerts, assisting Harold in buying and selling antiques, visiting friends, playing cards and other leisure games, reading, and volunteering at the Fort Morgan Library Museum. She also enjoyed travel and took yearly trips to visit her children out of state and completed various other trips including recent forays to Brazil and Africa. Harold and Dianna remained married for 55 years, until his death in 2021.

In summary, Dianna was a wonderful person, wife, and mother who lived a full and active life. Her optimism and friendly demeanor will be greatly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother (Earnest), and Harold. She is fondly remembered by her two children, Blaine (Carolina) of Buffalo, NY and Lana (Kunal Shah) of San Francisco, CA; two grandsons, Leo and Archer Shah; one brother, Roger (Cheryl) Morse of Norfolk, NE and one sister, Gail (Don) Penn of Cary, IL; her in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am, June 28 at the Brush Cemetery gazebo. The family wishes to acknowledge the outpouring of support and encouragement provided by the Morgan County community over the last several months.
