Obituary

Dolorez Rivera, a woman of profound faith, unwavering strength, and deep devotion to family, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1925, Dolorez lived a century-long life she often described as "truly blessed."

Dolorez was the ultimate matriarch—the steady cornerstone of five generations. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, her heart and her home were always open. She believed there was always room for one more, welcoming everyone "no matter what," and creating a home filled with love, faith, and warmth.

Children were the center of Dolorez's heart. She lovingly helped raise many of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, giving them the same care, guidance, and affection she gave her own children.
A woman of remarkable work ethic and resilience, Dolorez spent much of her life working in the fields, laboring tirelessly to help provide for her family. She balanced this hard work with her role as a devoted homemaker, creating a nurturing home grounded in humility, love, and togetherness. Through quiet strength and selfless sacrifice, she shaped generations.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures—cooking for her family, gardening, traveling, and visiting Central City, where she delighted in the quarter machines. Above all else, she cherished time spent surrounded by her loved ones.

She is survived by her children: Melly and Ruben Castro of Fort Morgan; Felix and Patti Rivera of Brush; Fallie and Ramon Chavez of Fort Morgan; Margie and Nemecio Garcia of Fort Morgan; Carlos and Virginia Rivera of Fort Morgan; Janie Rivera of Brush; Victor and Sylvia Rivera of Phoenix, Arizona.

She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and more than 120 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Dolorez was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio Rivera, and her cherished son, Johnny Rivera.

Dolorez Rivera lived a life defined by faith, sacrifice, unconditional love, and enduring strength. Her legacy will live on through the generations she raised and the countless lives she touched.
