Don
Kroskob
d. Jul 16, 2024
Fort Morgan
Donald Kroskob, longtime area farmer, passed away July 16, 2024, just three days after his 91st birthday. He was born July 13, 1933 to William and Catherine (Schreiner) Kroskob. Don grew up on a dairy farm where he learned his hard work ethic. He graduated from high school in Fort Morgan and went to college in Fort Collins. During this time he also farmed with his father and helped run the family dairy. Later he joined the army and was proud to serve his country.
On November 16, 1958 he married the love of his life, Norma Schwindt. They were married for 65 years. He and Norma were blessed with six children: Donald Lee, Sherri, Jeff, Tim, Craig & Diane.
Don and Norma owned 7K's Dairy and a farming operation southwest of Fort Morgan. Don instilled his work ethic in all of his children teaching them to milk cows, drive tractors, irrigate, and run the family business alongside he and Norma. He rewarded the kids with donuts from his visits to the donut shop, where he would meet his friends for coffee every morning before milking. As grandkids came along, he enjoyed teaching them all about the dairy and farming and carried on the donut tradition with them.
In 2005, Don and Norma became co-owners of the Flower Petaler, and they also became great-grandparents that same year. They adored their great-grandchildren and were lovingly known as Grandpa and Grandma Bean because of the Jelly Beans they gave the kids. Once Don retired from farming he became the delivery driver for the flower shop. He was often invited in for treats and visits while making his deliveries.
Don loved working with kids and was a 4H leader for over 30 years. He was also active in the Young Farmers organization. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids and loved watching them participate in their sporting events. The most important thing in Don's life was his family.
He is survived by his wife Norma, his daughter Sherri (Eugene) Betcher, daughter in law Wendy Kroskob, son Tim Kroskob, son Craig (Lisa) Kroskob, daughter Diane (Keith) Schulte, his brother Ed (Laurie) Kroskob, 14 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son Donald Lee, son Jeffrey Kroskob, granddaughter Amberly Kroskob, great granddaughter Azalee Rudnik, parents William and Catherine, and brother William Kroskob.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 24th at 11:00AM at Platte Valley Baptist Church, 22750 US Hwy 34 in Fort Morgan. There will be a meal following the service.
