Donald Wayne Baker, 83, life resident of Morgan County, passed away Wednesday, December 02, 2015, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
He was born April 19, 1932, in Snyder, CO, to Lester & Nellie Baker. Wayne graduated from Snyder High School. Following graduation, Wayne joined the US Air Force where he served until 1954, when he received his honorable discharge. He came back to Snyder and went to work at McLagan Creamery in Brush. He worked in the plant bottling milk and making ice cream until the company quit, and then he delivered milk for them. After McLagans closed, he went to work at Excel Meat Packing Plant in Fort Morgan.
On May 13, 1959, Wayne married Joyce Larsen in Snyder. Wayne was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling, playing and umpiring softball games.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Brush; 3 children, Wally (Susan) Baker of Fort Morgan; Donny (Connie) Baker of Colorado Springs, and Susan (Jim) Flinn of Brush; 1 sister, Rose Reitz of Brush; 4 brothers, Elmer and Marvin of Brush; David of Arvada, CO; and Joe of Hillrose; 7 grandchildren, Lori, Holly, Scott, Karli, Risten, Seth, and Noelle; and 4 great grandchildren, Anyssa, Brinlee, Quintyn, and Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Dorothy Jones; 4 brothers, George, Maurice, Lawrence, and John; and his parents.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 10:00 AM at the Snyder Bible Church. The service will conclude at the church with military honors.
The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wayne Baker family for a memorial to be established later.
