DONALD "SONNY" RUPPEL, 69, lifelong Fort Morgan resident, died unexpectedly Monday night at his home. He was born May 31, 1938 in Brush to David & Anna (Simon) Ruppel. He married Judy Spotts on May 16, 1969 in Fort Morgan. Ruppel worked at Great Western Sugar in Fort Morgan for 35 years before his retirement in 2004. He had also worked for Spotts Brothers Plumbing & Heating in Fort Morgan for a number of years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and chauffeuring his grandchildren. He was an accomplished handyman. Ruppel is survived by his wife, Judy Ruppel; and two daughters, Kim Vinesett and Kerrie McAlister, all of Fort Morgan; his son, Casey Ruppel of Eaton; two sisters, Darlene Mays of Fort Morgan and Dorothy Croswell of Scottsbluff, NE; one brother, Robert Ruppel of Fort Morgan; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Ruppel and Reuben Ruppel; one sister, Esther Earl; and one granddaughter, Kendall Jones. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
