Donald E. Meininger, 81, lifelong area resident, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan.

He was born September 1, 1934 to Victor and Rachel (Hoffman) Meininger.

Don attended Weldon Valley Schools and worked on the family farm.

He married Dorothy Freauff in Fort Morgan on April 25, 1954. Don farmed for several years before starting his own business, Don Meininger's Portable Welding.

He enjoyed gardening, where he raised tomatoes and sweet corn.

Don is survived by daughters, Cindy Henry (Elie) of Hammond, Louisiana, and Diana Daniel (Russel) of Fort Morgan, his brother, Alvin Meininger of Weldona, nine grandchildren, Chrissy Mueller, Angela Allen, Linda Henry, Elie Henry, Jessica Stone, Tiffany Cromwell, Curtis Cromwell, LaVonna Elwood, Chad Daniel and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, two sons, Donald and Ronald, two sisters, Mary Ann Carlson, and Phyllis Kollman, and his parents.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
