Long time Fort Morgan resident Don Naill passed away early Monday morning, October 13th, 2008. Donald Wayne Naill was born in Sheridan, MO, in 1918. He was the fifth son of Sam and Nellie Naill. In 1926, the family moved to Wiggins, Colorado where Don attended school and graduated from high school with four other classmates in 1936. After high school, Don served in the Civilian Conservation Corp where he spent two years building roads around Estes Park, CO. In 1942 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent two years in North Africa and Italy building bridges and maintaining roads. Don married Marjorie Mae Triplett in May of 1949. They raised one daughter and three sons. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in May of this year. He had many vocations. The most prominent was the ownership and operation of Naills Skelly Service Station from 1962 to 1978. Don enjoyed people and touched many lives with his jovial nature and good humor. He was also known as "the best damn horse-shoe player in the county". He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Elks Club of Ft. Morgan. Don is survived by his wife Marjorie, one daughter, Donna Reyman of Arvada, CO, and three sons, Don Jr. of Gypsum, CO, Craig of Silverthorne, CO and Mark of Eaton, CO. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, Gina, Jasmyn, Erin, Ellie, Jennifer, Jessica, Joe, Emily, Shelby and Hunter. He had eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Lyle Naill of Ft. Morgan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, Gaylord, Melvin, Doyle and his sister Hazel. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 225 W. Bijou Ave. in Ft. Morgan, at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 17th. Inurnment will follow at the Columbine Columbarium at Serenity Falls. Military Honors will be conducted by the Fort Morgan VFW Post #2551. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church.
