Obituary

In loving memory of Donald K. Taylor, 70, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020, in Brush, CO.  He was born February 5, 1950 in Decatur, NE to Don T. & Alma J. Taylor.  Don was the youngest of 3 children, having an older brother, Tom, and sister, Barbara.

Don was baptized in 1974, as one of Jehovah's Witness.  He enjoyed talking to ones about the Bible, sharing his hope of a life that is to come where there is no more pain, sorrow, and death would be no more here on earth (Rev 21: 3,4)

Don married Jean Asheim on December 19, 1971, in Lyons, NE.  Don loved his family dearly and is remembered as being good humored, fun loving, and a tender hearted father.

Don also touched many lives in the community.  He worked hard and did as much as he could to help out.  He served as shop teacher, math teacher, EMT, and coach in Nebraska schools.  In 1993 the Taylor family moved to Brush and Don joined the Brush School District.  During his tenure he was a shop teacher at the high school and middle school.  He also went on to serve as assistant principal and the principal at the middle school until his retirement in 2011.

He enjoyed wood working, music, joking and laughing with his friends.  His favorite activity was spending time with his family.

Dad is known for giving great hugs and was not afraid to give them out to comfort and console, to greet and to say good bye.  We will miss them so much!

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Brush; 1 son, Aaron (Natalie) of Tollhouse, CA; 3 daughters, Angie (Josh) Powell of Lincoln, NE; Carie (Matt) Shealy of Centennial, CO, and Katie Taylor of Brush; 1 brother Tom (Vivian) Taylor of Cedar Hill, TX; and 10 grandchildren, Bethany, Samuel, Lizabeth, Oscar, Hattie, Alana, Marik, Chloe, Jenisis, and Caydin; Sisters -in-law, Trudi Glassburn, Amy Alford, and Sandy Asheim; and a brother-in-law, Don Gabriel; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
