Doris M. Anderson, 85, life resident of the Brush community, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born July 8, 1929, in Brush to Frank & Myrtle Thomas. Doris graduated from Brush High School in 1947. On June 4, 1950, she married Mervin Anderson in Brush. Doris was an avid supporter of her husband in his ministry with the Assemblies of God in NE Colorado. She was a very active member of the Calvary Assembly of God and was frequently the person that worked behind the scenes to make certain everything was ready for church events. She was also a member of the EMCH Auxiliary. She enjoyed making embroidered gifts including tables clothes, pillowed cases, and tea towels. Most of all, Doris loved people and giving hugs. Survivors include her 4 daughters, Cherrie (Gene) William of Knoxville, TN, Marie (Jerry) Engquist of Aurora, CO, Frankie Anderson of Denver, CO, and Merlene (Dan) Scalise of Brush; 1 sister, Shirley Griffin of Fort Collins, CO; and1 brother, Lyle Thomas of Denver; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin, 5 brothers, Charles Nelson, Marvin Nelson, Dwight Goldsberry,Elmer Thomas and Floyd Thomas; 1 sister, Maxine Thomas; and her parents. A funeral service will be at the Calvary Assembly of God, 1012 Eaton Street in Brush on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Church beginning at 9:00 AM Tuesday. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Calvary Assembly of God.
