Doris A. Drefke, 85, life resident of Logan & Morgan Counties, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born August 9, 1930, in Sterling, CO, to Herman & Clara Shade.

Doris graduated from Padroni High School. On June 12, 1948, she married William R. Drefke in Sterling. The Drefke family lived in Sterling and Brush. Prior to retirement, Doris worked as an emergency medical technician at the Sterling Regional Medical Center, East Morgan County Hospital, and Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. She later worked as payroll clerk at Eben Ezer for many years.

Doris loved sewing and frequently remembered family and friends with thoughtful gifts and creative adventures.   She served faithfully in the All Saints Lutheran Church alongside Sister Anna Poulsen and other servants of the All Saints Church community.

Survivors include her 3 children, Larry (Laurice) Drefke of Arvada, CO; Sandy (Robert) Smith of Little Elm, TX, and Caroline (Dave) Rahberg of Plano, TX; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bill, 1 infant son, Samuel Lee Drefke, and her parents.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 16, 2016, at 1:30 PM at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Doris Drefke Memorial Fund for Eben Ezer c/o the Heer Mortuary.

Doris will be remembered for her love of surprises, her playfulness, and her abiding faith. The family will remember her as "Nana", always sweet and sometimes sassy!"
