Doris M. Gulley, 87, life resident of the Kirk & Stratton, Colorado communities, passed away late Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush, CO. She was born June 27, 1921, in Kirk, CO, to Gilbert & Helen Meade. Following graduation from Kirk High School, Doris married Ralph Gulley. Prior to retirement, Doris had worked as a clerk at the Kirk Post Office and upon retirement, they moved to Stratton. After Ralph passed away, Doris moved to "The Legacy" in Burlington for a few years before moving to Sunset Manor in Brush. Doris was a member of the Stratton United Methodist Church. She had served as a local and state officer in the Home Demonstration Club, and was a 4-H Leader for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and dominos, having coffee with her friends every morning (even caring personalized coffee cups to the daily coffee) traveling with friends, and spending winters in Arizona. Doris played golf until she was 80 years old. She looked forward to spending time with her family, especially during holidays. Survivors include 1 daughter, Faith Cannady of Brush; 1 brother, Doran Meade of Canon City, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great - great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, 1 son, Eldon and his wife, Dora Lu; 1 sister, Jackie Smith; 1 brother, Dennis Meade, and her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at 1:30 PM at the Kirk United Methodist Church in Kirk, Colorado. Interment will follow in the Kirk Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Tuesday from 1 – 5 PM.
