Dorothy D. "Dotty" Doughty, 82, former Brush resident, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, peacefully at the Hope West Hospice Center in Grand Junction. She was born December 1, 1931, in Marshall, OK to Herman and Louise Kersen. In August, 1963, Dotty moved to Brush. She moved to Grand Junction in 2012 to be closer to her family. Dotty married Albert Doughty on July 2, 1966, in Brush. Dotty worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1965 until retiring in 1992. She & Al also owned and operated Flame Bowl bowling lanes in Brush. Dotty was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and was very active in the Rosary & Altar Society. Dotty enjoyed helping with many church luncheons and their Spring Breakfast and Oktoberfest. She was a member and president of the APWU local 691 for many years. She was also a member of the Brush Women's Bowling Association for 25 years, serving as secretary on several leagues in both Brush and Fort Morgan. After retiring, Dotty volunteered at SHARE in Fort Morgan and for Baby Bear Hugs. She was a member of the EMCH Auxiliary and served as president for two years; she also volunteered with the Bonfils Blood Bank and was a regular blood donor. Dotty loved gardening of all kinds and prided herself in making her flower gardens some of the prettiest yards in town. She also enjoyed playing cards with her dear friends in Brush and in the short time she lived in Grand Junction, she met and played cards with some very special ladies. Dotty loved animals of all kinds, especially her little Pomeranian, Samson. Survivors include her daughters, Janette Peters of Colorado Springs, Diana Le Smith and Debbie Whiteman both of Grand Junction; step daughters, Angie Brown of St. Louis, MO, and Lori Baker of Golden, CO; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; 1 son, Lawrence (Ace) Allen Eskew; 1 daughter, Brenda Kay Madsen; 3 sisters, Katherine Taggart, Rosa Grubbs, Marie Crawley; 2 grandsons, Michael Anderson, Christian Martinez; and her parents. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:30 A.M followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M at Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
