Dorothy Mae Geist, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15th at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley Colorado.

Dorothy was born May 28, 1935, in Fort Morgan to Rhiney and Kathrine Schreiner Graeb.  She graduated in 1953 from Fort Morgan High School.  While in High School she worked in the Superintendent's office and then at Clark Feather Manufacturing Company until her marriage October 18th, 1953 to Alexander Geist.  Two children, Tonia and Marc, were born to this union.

Dorothy worked for a brief period of time as an invoicing clerk at Wells-Lamont Glove Factory and then spent the next fourteen years assisting her husband on the farm.  She liked the harvest season where she could be seen hauling beets, beans, corn, hay and ensilage.  When the family left the farm, she accepted a position with Farmers State Bank in the bookkeeping department and ended that stint with a place in the Trust Department.  She moved to Pierce, Colorado where she and her husband managed Niedens Farm, a subsidiary of Hillside Floral of California for three years.  Upon moving back to Fort Morgan, she went to work for Schlumberger Well Services for 10 years.  When the oil industry took a downturn, she was asked to work for Leviton Telcom until that entity moved to Bothel, Washington.  Her final working years were with Hamlin Electric Company as a payroll clerk, a position that she called the "icing on the cake" of her working years.  In later years, with the assistance of her husband, she lovingly cared for her parents, an aunt and a cousin.

Dorothy was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Church serving as president and secretary of the Ladies Fellowship at different times and as Treasurer and/or Secretary of the Church Board for a number of years.  She was the first woman in her church to be elected to serve on the Church Board.  One of her most favorite activities was as a member of the church choir for over 40 years.   She sang often in various musical groups of the church including tenor in the Men's Choir.  She was a regular singer at many funerals, weddings and other church activities.  She played the piano by ear with much enjoyment.

Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Alex.  Surviving her are their two children and their spouses, Tonia and Mike Smallwood of Johnstown and Marc and Monica (Mintling) Geist of Broomfield; four grandchildren, Christine Gersic and husband, Christopher of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Ryan Smallwood of Johnstown, Amanda Sharrow and husband, Jason of Thornton, and Marissa Tremblay and her husband Chris of Boerne, Texas; five great grandchildren, Madyson Smallwood, Katherine and Henrik Gersic, Brooke and Brody Sharrow; Maxwell, Elliot and Julianne Tremblay and one sister, Kathleen Wright and husband Jim of Peoria, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harold, Samuel and wife, Ruby, twins Edward and Elmer, Ruben, William and wife Bette, Richard, sister Elsa Steen, and Elsa's husband Tom.

Special and heartfelt thanks to the Jeff Morford and family and Judy Kroeker for their loving care and assistance throughout Alex and Dorothy's declining years.

At Dorothy's request, no formal service is planned.  Cremation services were provided by Heer Mortuary with cremains to be interned at Serenity Falls Columbarium in Riverside Cemetery.  Memorials in her honor may be given to the Mission Fund of Immanuel Evangelical Church.
