Feb 13, 1928 — Sep 15, 2021
Dorothy L. ("Dicki") Nuss, passed away on September 15, 2021 at Littleton Hospital.
Dicki was born February 13, 1928 in Fort Morgan to J.G. and Marie Hoffman. Her father gave her the nickname "Dicki" when just a toddler and it followed her all her life. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School and soon after married Fred Nuss of Hillrose on December 8, 1946. They celebrated their 74 th anniversary last December. After the wedding, she and Fred farmed in Hillrose for 20 years. During that time, Dicki was secretary at Brush Central School.
In 1968 they did a major change moving to Windsor to manage the Windsor Health Care nursing home. During those years, Dicki was the bookkeeper consultant and auditor for numerous other Geriatrics, Inc. nursing home facilities. In 1978, they purchased Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. Fred was administrator of Valley View and Dicki the bookkeeper. They began many years of enjoyable retirement after selling Valley View Villa to Life Care Centers in 1985. They purchased a home in Texas and for 17 years spent the winter months in Texas enjoying golf, dancing, card games and their many new friends. Volunteering was a big part of her life as she spent many hours at the Ft. Morgan Museum, Colorado Plains Medical Center and Methodist Church.
She belonged to several bridge groups and thoroughly enjoyed being a member of her much-loved Friday Club. She always loved to entertain and cook for her guests and family members, especially her grandchildren. She taught the grandchildren Hand and Foot and many other rousing card games. In 2015, the couple moved to Wind Crest Senior Living Center in Highlands Ranch, Colorado to be near their children. Dicki enjoyed making new friends at Wind Crest.
Dicki is survived by her husband Fred; two sons, Larry (Kathy) of Highlands Ranch and Craig (Chris) of Lone Tree; three grandchildren Alex Nuss, Ashley Nuss, and Mike Liedtke (Emily); two great grandchildren Katie and Ryan; and brother Alan Hoffman (Sue) of La Canada, California.
