Obituary

Dorothy Marie Luhrs of Fort Morgan, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 at the Valley View Villa, just a month shy of her 99th Birthday.

She was born April 17, 1917 in Blackburn, MO to Fred & Nora (Schlue) Wessler. She married John Luhrs on January 10, 1935 in Fort Morgan.

Mrs. Luhrs was an avid volunteer in the community for a number of years, mostly at Colorado Plains Medical Center and the Fort Morgan Library Museum. She also served on the Colorado Plains Center Foundation Board. Dorothy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. Her passions included gardening and canning the fruits of her labor, playing Bridge, and fishing.

She is survived by her two children, Nancy Doty and Norman (Caroline) Luhrs, all of Fort Morgan, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her son-in-law, Don Doty, and two grandsons.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 18th at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Sherman Street in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
