Dorothy M. Mason, 81, long time resident of Northeast Colorado, passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2007, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born at home November 19, 1925, in Peetz, CO, to William & Stella Wixon. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1943. She was married to William Benway formerly of Sterling. On August 24, 1952, Dorothy married Charles A. Mason in Brush. Prior to retirement she had worked as a medical receptionist. In 1979 the Mason's moved to Brush . She was a member of the United Methodist Church. The Mason's enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge. They liked to travel and had visited Japan, Italy and Puerto Rico. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting afghans, and was a member of the East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary. She especially liked to spend time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Charles, of Brush; 5 children, Michael Benway, and his wife, Barbara, of Coupeville, WA, Jan Buford, and her husband, Lloyd, of Encampment, WY, David Mason, and his wife, Maria, of Portland, TX, Pat Wolever, and her husband, Tim of Wright, WY, and Kristie Donahue, and her husband, Jason, of New Johnsonville, TN; her sister-in-law, Mae Wixon of Thornton, CO; her grandchildren, Sara Benway of Washington, Amy Lakeman, and her husband Tim, of Westminster, CO, Ryan Buford and his wife Karen of Saratoga, WY, Michael Buford and his wife Amber, of Gillette, WY, Kevin Mason and Kelvie Mason both of Portland, TX,, TJ Wolever and his wife Nicole and Jennifer Wolever all of Sterling, CO, Kaitlyn Mason of New Johnsville, TN and Alex Donahue of Goodhue, MN; and her great grandchildren, Zaine, Hannah, Amber, Sarah, Parker, Lauren, Edward, Kaden, and Conner. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John and William Wixon, 1 sister, Catherine Hill and her parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 1:00 PM at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street. Interment will be at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 – 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Brush.
