On June 9th,2024 Dorothy Osborn, longtime resident of "The Valley," unexpectedly passed away at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado. For many years she has proven to be a fighter; battling and beating many health issues. However, at the age of 86 she was ready to go "home." Dorothy was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She liked to put together puzzles, cook, watch Dr. Phil, play games on her computer, go to Blackhawk, polka, and surround herself with her family as often as she could.

Dorothy Osborn (Sampson) was born on February 24th, 1938, in Weldona, Colorado to Austrid Holmes and Gustave Sampson. She had two siblings, Stanley Sampson and Ardyce Martin. Dorothy married James "Sonny" Groves and they had five children. She and Sonny later divorced after 25 years.  On November 19th, 1982, she remarried Donald Osborn.  The two had many great adventures, creating a wonderful life together on their farm before his passing in 2015. Shortly after she relocated to Orchard, Colorado where she was surrounded daily by a revolving door of family and friends.

She will be deeply missed by her children Kimberlee Deganhart, Darrell "Buzz" (Joni) Groves, Laurie Pate (and Dewey), and Rick Groves (and Jackie); daughter-in-law Gail Groves, as well as her beloved sister Ardyce Martin, sister-in-law Eunice Sampson, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Stanley Sampson; her husband Donald Osborn; her son Rodney Groves; son-in-law Jim Deganhart; daughter-in-law Teresa Groves; brother-in-law Clem Martin and grandchildren Eric Groves, Matthew Ruhl, and Skylar Groves.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Friday, June 14th at 10:00am. Immediately following will be a luncheon held at Morgan Lanes Bowling Alley.
