Dorothy Jean Sanders, 101, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born in Denver on June 2, 1921 in Denver to Cambell and Pearl (May) Deppen.

Dorothy graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo on May 13, 1940. She married Clarence "Barney" Sanders on September 13, 1941 in Raton, NM. They lived in the Denver/Boulder area until 1948 and then moved to Del Norte where they lived for five years before moving to Fort Morgan in 1953.

Dorothy worked for the school district in Fort Morgan as a Paraprofessional. She also held several clerk/cashier jobs in Yellowstone National Park and West Yellowstone, Montana.

Dorothy loved reading, playing cards with her many card groups, and traveling. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Survivors include her two daughters, Pat Canales and Cathy Dahl and husband, Mike; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Brett), Keri (Richard), Kayla (Brent), Kent, Ann (Eric), Brad, and Krysta (Shawn); eleven great grandchildren, Kortney, Nash, Kaleb, Kade, Ashton, Matthew, Adleigh, Brayson, Jon, Torie, and Tait; and three great-great grandchildren, Rosie, Paisley, and Kadence. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney, one sister, one brother, her parents and her son-in-law, Albert.

A memorial service will be in Serenity Falls Columbarium at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan on Friday, July 22 ^nd at 10:30 AM.
