Dorothy Wales, 92, longtime Fort Morgan resident, passed away Friday night, September 15, 2017, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center following a short illness. She was born April 11, 1925, Laramie, WY, to Joseph & Katherine Evans.

Dorothy grew up in Elk Mountain Wyoming. She attended, and graduated from Hannah WY High School and the University of Wyoming with her bachelors degree in education.  On June 29, 1946, she married George Wales in Rawlins, WY.  In 1950 the Wales family moved to Fort Morgan.  Dorothy taught math at the Fort Morgan Middle School for  21 years and was a substitute teach for 10 years  before retiring.

Dorothy was a very active member at St. Helena Catholic Church. Additionally, she was a member of the DOES (Elks Auxiliary), VFW Auxiliary, and the Fort Morgan Retired Teachers Association.  She loved to play golf and worked several years with the Dale Douglass Youth Golf Tournament.

Survivors include her children, Kenny Wales and Linda (Michael) Ruibal both of Dallas, TX; Rosemary Brown & Kevin Wales both of Fort Morgan; and Michael Wales of Commerce City, CO; 1 sister, Mary Yvonne Schroeder of Casper, WY; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great – great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 granddaughter, Maggie Ruibal; 1 brother, John; 1 sister, Patricia and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 4:00 PM at St. Helena Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in the Serenity Falls Columbarium.  The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
