Dorothy Eileen Young, 92, former Brush and Northeast Colorado area resident, passed away early Monday, April 06, 2009, in Lamar, CO with her family by her side. She was born May 21, 1916, in Roca, NE, to Noah & Emma (Smith) Cooper. Dorothy received her BA degree from Colorado Teachers College, now known as the University of Northern Colorado. On June 7, 1942, she married Eugene L. Young in Sterling. The Young family farmed near Crook for many years. In 1977, Eugene & Dorothy moved to Brush. After Eugene died, Dorothy moved to Lamar to be closer to her daughter and her family. Dorothy was a member of the Rankin Presbyterian Church, AARP, and the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed music and reading.. Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (Darwin) Klippert of Lamar; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Dennis Young, 1 daughter, Carol Butler; 1 brother, 1 sister, and her parents. A celebration service will be Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lamar, CO. An additional service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Rankin Presbyterian Church, 420 Clayton Street in Brush at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Lamar First Presbyterian Church, Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush, or to the Lamar Area Hospice c/o the mortuary. The Heer & Dahl Mortuaries in Brush and the Peacock Mortuary in Lamar are entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
