Doug English succumbed to multiple myeloma on December 27,2021. It is currently another cancer that is not preventable. He was diagnosed with the treatable but not curable disease in July after a biopsy of the bone marrow in conjunction with a vertebroplasty surgery to stabilize  four cracked spine bones.  He underwent treatments of radiation & chemo after he successfully rehabbed from the surgery - walking again. Those treatments however led to complications resulting in  four  weeks in the hospital, one in ICU  He decided to forego further treatment &  came home in Hospice on 9/21/21  We all enjoyed his recovery for three months. He was surrounded by family & friends during this time at home and enjoyed many visits from long time friends. Over the past three months on Hospice Doug was pain free, joking & his normal self, very optimistic. Doug was born to Albert and Margie English in September 1951. He grew up in Wiggins, CO and graduated from Wiggins High School in 1969. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where he met his wife, Tana. Their first date was a Luau by his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, of which he was an active member. Doug left college early to come back to the farm & work side by side with his Dad, Albert and Grandad, Lyster. It was always interesting to see the three discuss issues from three generational perspectives and come up with the best solution each time. They prided themselves on good farming and purchasing John Deere equipment to facilitate their operation.  They were thrilled to have the 1st Krone chopper in the county to harvest their silage. Then Doug & his Dad expanded the feedlot to 10,000 head at Wiggins. A few years later the family with Doug's leadership expanded and purchased two more feedlot locations at Brush & Hudson, CO expending to 30,000 head total. Concurrently, he and his Dad purchased several Kenworth trucks with Wilson trailers to haul cattle in and out and corn in! Doug even had a stretch of driving one of the units. Thus the establishment of several companies. Doug was a member of the National Cattleman's Association thru all the years. In 1978, Tana left teaching 2 ^nd grade to work with Doug & family as the CFO and lead accountant for all the companies. His sister Vicki also worked for the company.  In 2003, his son, Scott graduated from CU in Boulder and returned to work with his Dad & Grandad thus continuing the legacy of the family businesses as the 4 ^th generation.  Doug and Tana have 2 children, Sabrina English Binkley who lives in Fairbanks, AK and Scott who resides in Ft Lupton. Doug enjoyed watching CU and   Broncos football over the years having season tickets for both. He also enjoyed bar-b-q ing for family and friends   and specialized in the best cooked beef steaks! He enjoyed traveling. He helped Tana teach both of their children to snow ski and water ski. He enjoyed watching both of his children excel in their high school sports and then Sabrina's college sports career at the Colorado School of Mines logging a lot of "bleacher time"!  He was her biggest fan! Doug is survived by his wife of 49 years, 2 children, his sister, Victoria English Lehrer, his mother-in-law Dee Jones, and his 4 grandchildren, Simon & Clive Binkley & Lexi & Cooper English. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and parents and father-in-law, Ev Jones, & brother-in-law, Terry Jones in 3/2021. We will all miss his fun sense of humor & quick wit that kept us laughing right up to the end. RIP Doug with your smiling blue eyes!
