Doug
Jones
Jan 7, 1964 — Feb 10, 2021
Douglas Gene Jones passed away at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on February 10, 2021, at the age of 57. He was born to Merton & Helen (Jean) Jones on January 7, 1964, in Boulder, Colorado.
The Jones family moved to Brush when Doug was a sophomore in high school and he has resided in Brush since that time. Doug graduated from Brush High School in 1982. On March 1984 he married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia. They had two children together. First, they welcomed their daughter Desirae. Second, they welcomed their son Gregory, a few years later. Doug attended Morgan Community College and immediately began working for Mortec Industries where he worked for several years. Later, Doug went to work for the State of Colorado where he certified scales until health issues forced his retirement.
Doug was a member of the Inliners International Club. He also became fond of antique tractors, tractor shows, and tractor pulls. Throughout his life he was very involved with many youth programs. He helped with Cub Scouts and the Brush Wrestling Club while their children were growing up. He was very excited when he became Grandpa to Caelum, Joslyn, and Harlow. They meant everything to him and he was always doing what he could to spoil them, teach them, and make them laugh. He was always willing to help his grandson in the local Scouting programs and was involved with the History Camp sponsored by the City of Brush where he was known as "Captain Doug". Anyone that knew him knew was a "tinkerer" as he always had something that he was working on. He loved spending time in his shop with his friends and family.
Doug was always willing to help anyone that asked for his help. He never asked for anything in return and always said "That's what you do for friends". He made a lot of friends in his time here on earth, always welcoming anyone into his life and making them feel like family. He will be dearly missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; daughter Desirae (Tim) Martin, son Greg Jones; his Mother Jean Jones; sister Jody (Kevin) DeKorte; and his three grandchildren, Caelum, Joslyn & Harlow Martin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Jones and his father, Merton "Burr" Jones.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held for family and friends at a later date. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Doug Jones Memorial Fund c/o Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street Brush, CO 80723.
The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
