DOUGLAS JAMES GREEN, 21, of Fort Morgan, died Thursday, January 14, 2010. He was born July 20, 1988 in Fort Morgan to James F. Green III "Jake" & Katrina (Jackson) Green. He attended schools in Weldona and graduated from high school there in 2006. He also received his Associates degree from Morgan Community College at that time. Doug later moved to Denver where he attended Metro State College for over a year before moving back home where he returned to Morgan Community College to further his education. While in high school, Doug was a member of F.F.A. He was also president of his local F.F.A chapter for 2 years. With this accomplishment he also became a member of the National F.F.A. He took part in student council, boys state, and was a member of the National Honor Society. While living in Denver he was a Trainer at Bubba Gumps and he helped set up the restaurant when they first opened. He also worked as a chauffer for dj's that would visit Denver to play at night clubs. At the time of his death he was a Manager at Big O Tires in Fort Morgan. Doug was an avid fisherman. He also liked working on cars; he was very skilled with diagnostic mechanics. He enjoyed recreational shooting and especially liked to research things on the internet. Doug was a very unique and creative person with a passion to help others. His goal in life was to lend a helping hand to at least one person a day. Survivors include his parents, Jake & Katie Green; his brother, James F. Green IV "Darren"; and his paternal grandparents, James F. Green II & Jan Green, all of Fort Morgan; and his maternal grandmother, Wanda Lawson of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Corwin Jackson; and his cousin, Kenneth "Bub" Liedtke. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th from 4 – 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. A service to celebrate Doug's life will be Wednesday, January 20th at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church followed by cremation. Private Inurnment will be in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be made to the Douglas Green Memorial Fund at Key Bank in Fort Morgan.
