Douglas "Boots" Thompson, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

He was born in 1928, the third generation from Brush, CO dating back to the 1850's; the grandson of Fred & Mom Thompson and the son of Vern & Cleo Thompson. He has one son, Guy Thompson and one grandson, Cory Thompson.

Doug graduated from Brush High School and then left to join the Navy, fulfilling his dream of fighting for his country. He did two tours on an aircraft carrier at the tail end of the Vietnam War and then returned to Brush where he worked in his dad's barbershop. It was also during this time in his military career that he became the ships loan officer, and he saved a chunk of money to where he was able to start Aable Loans and Finance in Brush out of the back room of the barbershop where he was still working as a barber. He also started to build houses and would take houses in on trade which he always thought was kind of funny saying that he was too dumb to know any better. Doug went on to open several other businesses including Aable Cars I, Aable Cars II, and Brush Appliance. He also accumulated quite a few rental properties. His motto through most of his businesses was "I'm here to help the ones that no one else will help, and the forgotten ones."

He lived a long life and did things at his pace and on his own terms and how he wanted. He was very generous and very community minded. He absolutely loved the fact that he was from Brush, CO and would always brag about our tiny little town on his world travels.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, August 10th at 9:30 AM at his favorite place, Lot 267 on Navajo Road at Jackson Lake Village.
