Duane "Pickles" Collins, 72, formerly of Westminster, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born July 5, 1938 in Denver to James and Vernita (Drotts) Collins. Duane was a diesel mechanic and lived most of his life in Westminster before moving to the Ft. Morgan area in 2004. Collins was a workaholic and enjoyed tinkering on tractors and trucks when he was not at work. In his younger years he built and raced stock cars. He also enjoyed going big game hunting and 4 wheeling on mountain roads. Survivors include his two sons, Barton Collins of Ft. Morgan and Ronald Collins of New Philadelphia, Ohio, two daughters, Tina Lafferty of Ft. Morgan and Kelly Sandoval of Pardeville, Wisconsin, one brother, Carl Collins of Loma, Colorado, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Barton Russell Collins Jr. A Celebration of Duane's Life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 12 until 4 pm at Riverside Park in Ft. Morgan.
