Earl Leroy Sullivan, 91, passed away Monday April 22, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY. Earl was born to David and Alice Sullivan on June 4, 1921 in Rifle, Co. He had two brothers: Harley and Arthur, and six sisters: Mildred McGraw, Delores Hatcher, Zella Rae Warehime, Irene Long, Florence Falk, and Geneave Duncan. He grew up in Rifle until he attended Mesa Jr. College in Grand Junction. During college he worked at the Farr Bean Company. In December 1942 he joined the United States Marine Corp stationed out of California and fought in Iwo Jima. He then returned to Brush in January 1946. On May 5, 1946 he married the love of his life Ernestine Knox. They are blessed with three children, Stella (Carlson), Ernest and Veryl. Earl taught school for 21 years in Sunny Dale, Prospect Valley, Walden, and including Fort Morgan from 1958 until December 1975. In 1976 Earl purchased his dream ranch in Deaver, Wyoming where he raised cattle and seed beans for a living. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, champion bowler, and an avid photographer. A passionate traveler, Earl was able to experience many domestic and foreign locales between his military service and travel with his wife and family. Earl is survived by his wife of almost 67 years; his three children; eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Services celebrating Earl's life will be held at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 East Platte Avenue, Fort Morgan, Co. The viewing is on Friday April 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. And the funeral services will be on Saturday April 27th at 11:00am and conclude at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reception will follow the graveside service, location to be announced.
