Earl W. Timpe, 87, passed away quietly in the early hours of June 2, 2016 after a brief illness.


Earl was born September 5, 1928 in Fort Morgan and grew up south of town farming with his family.  After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and lived in North Africa and Great Britain, and several other states before retiring after 30 years of service.  While stationed in Texas he met and married his wife, Marjorie Hallsworth.  They were married for 54 years, raising four children and two grandchildren, before her death in 2004.  After his retirement from the military in 1975, they moved to Fort Morgan where he worked for and retired from Great Western Sugar and Western Sugar, Teague Diversified, and several other jobs.  He enjoyed having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren nearby and making wooden toys for them.  He enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking and doing electrical work for friends and family.  Earl was active in the Nazarene Church, teaching Sunday School there for many years until only a few weeks ago.

He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy E. Timpe of Ft. Morgan, CO, Betty L. Schanno (Paul) of Bailey, CO; son, Earl W. Timpe (Debra) of Virginia; two grandchildren he and his wife raised, James E. Timpe Jr (Sonya), of Greeley, CO and Shaza M. Horan (Jack) of Ft. Morgan, CO; 4 additional grandchildren, Tiffany L. Schanno of Bailey, CO, Jeffery M. Schanno, stationed at Ft. Benning, GA, Stephanie Hylton (Don) and Jamie Ballif (Trevor), both of Virginia; and 11 great grandchildren.

Earl was preceded in passing by his wife, Marjorie A., and his son, James E., his parents, 4 brothers and a sister.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Morgan Church of the Nazarene, visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens with military honors by the US Air Force Honor Guard.
