Earl D. Wilson, 86, passed away on Monday, November 8th, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born August 18th, 1924 to Orin and Opal Wilson on a ranch-farm north of Wray, CO. He attended school through the 8th grade in a country school house and graduated from high school in Wray. After high school he was drafted into the service during World War II and served in the Pacific. He spent 23 years in the Army, spending several years in the Pacific and the European theater. After retiring from the Army he met Shirley Jean Carver and they were married in Wray, CO on May 22, 1970. They moved to Fort Morgan and he worked for Turner Bros. Trucking CO. for about 15 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2551. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool with his grandsons and watching football games. He loved to raise a garden. He is survived by two step-children, Patty Young of Sterling, CO and Steve Carver of Wilsonville, Oregon; three sisters, Ruth Sharp of Benkelman, NE, Fern McGranahan of Atascadero, CA, and Elaine Crider of Wray, CO; two brothers, Cliff Wilson of Wray, CO and Lee Wilson Raton, NM. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley; one step-son, Randy Carver, and one sister, Faye Haglund. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10th from 2 until 5 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11th at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #2551. The service will conclude at the Church. Interment will be held at a later date in the Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
