Haws
Oct 14, 1930 — Oct 8, 2020
Edgar Lawrence Haws, 89, born in Running Water, Texas on October 14th, 1930. He grew up helping his family farm cotton, peanuts, and cattle around Lela, Texas. He worked various jobs before being drafted in the U.S. Army in 1951. In the Army, he attended Cook and Bakers school in Atterbury, Indiana. He served in Fort Carson until 1953. In September 28 th , 1952 he married Phyllis Dobbie. After working several jobs in Colorado, they then moved to Andrews, Texas. He worked for Pan-American Oil as an Operator at a natural gas refinery for 18 years. While in Andrews, him and a friend would remold FHA Houses on the side. In 1971, he moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado and entered the family business of Coin-Op Laundry Mats. He bought the Lady Saver Laundry Mat from his sister and brother-in-law. He owned and operated that business until he sold it and retired in 2000. He enjoyed cooking and canning; many family members can remember the slow cooked BBQ that he made. Anyone who knew Edgar knew that he had baked goods for anyone to eat on his kitchen table. His other hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting, raising a few calves to butcher for family and friends; but his most precious hobby was tending to his garden. He often had too much to handle, so he would give produce to friends and family. He would often take trips down to Texas to visit his parents and family and would bring his grandkids.
Edgar was a very kind and gentle man that would do anything for his family. With him being a natural business man, that was very successful, he took care of his family very well. He inspired his son by how hard he worked and putting quality time into his family and career. He took his grandkids out to teach them the basics and safety of driving whether on the tractor or in his pickup.
