Edith Ailene Berndt went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 12, 2025, in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Edith was born on May 28, 1928, to Almer Art and Clara Mabel Porter. After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Pfost. To this union, four children were born: Patricia (Steve) Simon of Broomfield, CO; Linda (Byron) Myers of Norfolk, NE; Michael (Mick) Pfost of Brush, CO; and Debra (Jim) Meschke (both deceased). She lived a good, full life, and at age 97, she died in Norfolk. She is survived by three children, 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.

After the kids were born, the family moved from Denver to a "rundown" farm south of Brush. Over the years, they improved the place and eventually were awarded the "Outstanding Young Farmer" Award. Edith worked alongside Bob, and soon they had a Class A dairy called "Day Spring Dairy." Edith loved the farm and had a large vegetable and flower garden. After Bob's passing, she married Harold Berndt, whom she also survived.

Edith worked at various jobs, volunteering, traveling, and enjoying her yard. One of her favorite places to live was the Arbor in Brush. Some of the neighbors and staff became special friends. In September 2024, she left her home state of Colorado and moved to Norfolk, NE, to live with Linda and Byron, where many of her grand and great-grandchildren were close by to visit. She also had their dog Yancy to love after losing her beloved Sally.

A funeral service will be held at Heer Mortuary in Brush, CO, at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025. Lunch will follow, and graveside services at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan, CO, at 2:00 PM.
