After a brief illness, Edith Friehauf passed into glory on Friday, April 27, 2012, in Montesano, Washington. Edith Mary Hohn was born on March 15, 1919, in Echo, Minnesota, to Paul & Mary Hohn. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Haxtun, Colorado, where Edith spent her early years. At age 16, Edith graduated from Haxtun High School and subsequently attended the "Success Business College" in Denver, where she met Herbert Friehauf. They were married on June 9, 1940. Their son, Gary, was born on January 20, 1941. In 1942 they moved to a farm near Haxtun and their daughter, Kathleen, was born on December 24, 1944. In 1945 the Friehauf family moved to a farm north of Brush, Colorado. Edith and Herb lived on two different farms for 20 years before moving in to Brush in 1965. Edith lived in Brush for 45 years, living alone for the first time in her life after Herb's death on March 11, 2004. Following a serious illness she moved to Aberdeen, Washington with her son in 2010. For two years prior to her death, Edith lived in a retirement center in Hoquiam, Washington. For 25 year she worked at the First National Bank of Brush beginning as a secretary for Charles Emerson and retiring in 1985 as an n officer of the bank. Edith was very active at the Brush United Methodist Church, where she was choir director for over 40 years. She served on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School, led the MYF for man years and substituted as church organist until 2010. She was also an active member of the Brush Music Club. She also sang for many funerals over the years. Survivors include her son, Gary Friehauf, and his wife Sonia of Aberdeen, WA, daughter Kathleen Reyes, and her husband Leon of Elko, NV; her grandchildren Bryan (Tracy) Friehauf of Brighton, CO, Hileigh (William) Murphy of Irvin, CA, Monica (Eric) Kirby and Dion Reyes all of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Monique (Roland) Gordon, Samantha and Gabriella Friehauf all of Brighton, Declan and Lorelei Murphy of Irvin, CA, and Sonya and Charissa Kirby of Las Vegas. She was also blessed with two great – great grandson, Roland John and Jasen Lee Gordon of Brighton, CO; other family members include Chris (Sharon) Hutt, and sons Jon and Joshua; Brenda Finlayson and daughters Jessy and Taylor, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Her, her parents, Paul & Mary Hohn; brother & sister-in-law Wilbur (Mary) Hohn, and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Orville) Eckman. Edith was a loving Mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2912, at 10:30 AM at the Brush United Methodist Church. Donations may be given in memory of Edith to the Brush Untied Methodist Church.
