Edna C. Henness, 89, lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Edna was born August 12, 1925 in Fort Morgan to Leslie and Bertha (Wells) Canfield. She married Robert Henness Jr. on June 1, 1941. Edna was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed the company of her good friend Germaine, her two cats, dancing; gardening, tending to her flowers, and playing in several bridge clubs. Edna worked several jobs in Fort Morgan, but dearly loved her employment at Montel Music Center for many years. She loved taking Sunday "drives" with her husband Bob, and they loved taking their yearly road trips to Las Vegas. Edna in her later years enjoyed watching "Dancing with the Stars", and watching the Broncos with all her friends at Valley View nursing home. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Survivors include, her two children, Robert Henness III, and wife Cleo, of Fort Morgan, and Kathleen Mares, of Fort Morgan, brothers, Roy Canfield and Don Canfield both of Denver, grandchildren, Kim Henderson and husband Dave of Fort Morgan, and John E. Mares III of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, ten great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Bob, the love of her life for 63 years, infant sister, Ethel Mae, her granddaughter, Karla Mares, brothers, Harold, Glenn, and Lawrence Canfield, and her parents. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 5 until 7 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February, 11, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
