Edna Ruth von Riesen, 93, Brush resident for over 50 years, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Sandalwood long term care facility in Wheat Ridge, CO. She was born July 8, 1921, in McPherson, KS to Asa C. & Emma Schrag Stucky. Edna Ruth met Ronald von Riesen while they were attending Bethel College in North Newton, KS. They married on April 25, 1943 in North Newton. The von Riesens lived in Chicago and South Dakota while Ron was attending seminary and then serving as President of Freeman Junior College. In 1958 they moved to Brush. Edna Ruth was employed as a court clerk at the Morgan County Judicial Court for many years. Edna Ruth was an active member of the Rankin Presbyterian Church for 56 years. She served as a Deacon and as Clerk of the Session. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and playing bridge with her bridge club of 50 years. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed indoor and outdoor gardening. Survivors include her children, Cynthia Skeen of Georgetown, CO, Roger von Riesen of Lake City, CO and Richmond von Riesen of Buena Vista, CO; and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Ellen Groves, her brother Delmar Stucky, and her parents. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be in the United Presbyterian Church Columbarium in Fort Morgan, CO
