EDWARD "EDDIE" GEIST, 73, lifelong Morgan County resident, died Friday, August 14, 2009 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan after a four month hospitalization. He was born April 17, 1936 in Fort Morgan to Conrad & Elizabeth (Blum) Geist. He grew up attending schools in the local area and he served in the U.S. Army from January 1959 to January 1961, during which time he obtained a GED. He owned and operated Eddie's Repair for 38 years. On May 26, 1961 Eddie married Sandra Loose in Fort Morgan. They made their home in Log Lane Village. Eddie, in his light brown Dodge pickup, could be seen on a daily basis criss-crossing the roads in and around Morgan County. Being an ex-farm boy, he kept an eye on the crops and was diligent in observing the weather patterns, especially if they were stormy. If you were out and about when he drove by, a friendly visit was always in order. Survivors include his wife of forty eight years, three sons and one daughter; Clint of Weldona, Brett (Shauna) of Fort Morgan, Kurt of Broomfield, and Beverly (Charlie) Walker of Fort Morgan; grandchildren, Mindy (Eric) Smith, Heather (Josh) Horton, J.R. and Wayne Mylander, all of Fort Morgan, and Valerie Hallett of Greeley. Great grandchildren, Brody and Kinser Smith, Zachary Geist, Morgan Horton and Brayden Franzen. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; five brothers, Alex (Dorothy) Geist, John (Lovean) Geist, Raymond Geist, Donald (Maxine) Geist, all of Fort Morgan, and Reuben Blum of Brush; four sisters, Lydia Fulk of Fort Morgan, Ruth (Kenneth) Mock of Lake Havasu, AZ, and twins, Barbara and Bonnie Geist, both of Greeley. Eddie is also survived by a family friends, Tina Cuckow and Judy Miller. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Klauser, and his parents. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19th from 5 – 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be Saturday, August 22nd at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Church, Seventh Ave. & Deuel Street, in Fort Morgan with Pastor Bob Tolson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary is in charge of visitation and cremation arrangements.
