Obituary

Edward Harper, 70 of Brush, died Sunday at the Swedish Medical Center in Denver. He was born January 3, 1938 in Kiowa to Edward and Faye Harper. He joined the United States Army in 1955 and served 9 years. Edward married Evelyn Tharp August 22, 1959 in Ozark, Alabama. While Edward was in the service they lived in Alabama, Germany, and in Kentucky. They moved to Denver and then to Brush where he worked for the Colorado State Highway Department for 30 years. After he retired he began working for the Ace Hardware Store just to keep himself busy. He enjoyed playing golf, working on antique cars, and hunting arrowheads and other Indian artifacts, he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Evelyn, his daughter Donna, two sons Duane and Rocky, his brother Ernest, two sisters Clara, and Della, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandson. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush, from 10am to 2pm with a funeral service to begin at 2pm, the service will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be held on Friday at the Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, CO.
