Edward R. Herbst, 73, life resident of Brush, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, at his home. He was born April 10, 1937, in Brush to Fred & Katherine Herbst. Ed graduated from Brush High School in 1955. In 1957 he joined the US Air Force where he served until 1961. On December 2, 1962, Ed married Patricia Beam in Boulder, CO. Prior to retirement, Ed worked as the service manager for Carroll Motor and later Garnsey Wheeler Ford dealership in Fort Morgan. Ed is a retired member of the Brush Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed restoring cars, woodworking, and flying airplanes. Survivors include his wife, Patricia and daughter Theresa (Gilbert) Leake all of Brush; 1 sister, Bertha Snell of Colorado Springs, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4 – 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
