EDWINA M. DARDANES, 89, of Brush, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born September 5, 1920 in Blanco, NM to Antonio & Adelaida (Valdez) Archuletta. Edwina married George Dardanes Jr. on June 17, 1940 in Deming, NM. George & Edwina moved to the Trinidad area where they ranched for several years before owning and operating the Downtown Motel in Trinidad. They ran the motel from 1967 until 1999. Edwina also worked for the Colorado Department of Employment for 21 years. After retiring from the State of CO Edwina enjoyed cooking, sewing, oil painting, and doing all kinds of puzzles. Mr. & Mrs. Dardanes moved to Brush in 1999 to be closer to their family. She was untiring in caring for her husband during his poor health. She attended Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Dardanes and wife Margie; two grandsons, Greg Dardanes and wife Gina, and Aaron Dardanes, all of Brush; granddaughter, Stacie Gilmore and husband Scott of Denver. There are 6 great grandchildren and they were the joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dardanes; her two sisters, Cecilia Harrison and Mary Vega, and her parents. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28th from 5 – 7 PM with a Rosary Vigil beginning at 7:00 PM, at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 29th at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
