Eleazar (Al) Ocanas Sr. 7 4 , passed away in Ohio surrounded by family on Monday April 3 rd , 2023.

He was born on May 5 th , 1948 to Elias and Juana ( Tovar ) Ocanas in Neuvo Leon Mexico but grew up in Fort Morgan Colorado . As a teenager he found his love for cars while working at the local Conoco station off Main Street and I-76. There, with the help of his boss, the two of them would build his first car, a 1954 Ford that they purchase d from a hippie who was making his way to Boulder.

Eleazar married Suelma Segura and during their marriage together they would have three children Eleazar Jr, Benjamin Lee and Crystal Emily.

He work ed for Cargil for over 35 years until his retirement in 2012.

Eleazar was a very friendly person who a lways had a smile and sunglasses on his face. He never missed watching a Broncos game, enjoyed listening to the oldies, watching old westerns like Bonanza and Gun Smoke , scratching lottery tickets and attending car shows . Eleazar had a green thumb and would plant a garden when possible and always had plants growing in his home . M ost of all he enjoyed spending time with family and pets whom he loved dearly and drinking a cold one with good friends .

Eleazar is survived by his children Eleazar (Mandy) Ocanas Jr. of Fort Morgan, Benjamin ( Mish a) Ocanas of Oregon, Crystal Ocanas of Crest ed Butte, C O , Grandchildren: Kegan Cope-Nehls of Kearney Nebraska, Ouray (Brianna) Ocanas of Brush, CO, Kiana (Anthony) Martinez of Cheyenne WY, Marissa McClung of Nebraska, Great Grandchildren : Blayton Lee Cope of Kearney, Nebraska, Xavier Martinez of Cheyenne, WY and Aria Ocanas of Brush, CO, B rother s and S isters : Jesse (Sandy) Ocanas of Loveland, CO , Isr ae l Ocanas of Arizona, Joel Ocanas of Ohio, Mary (Rick) Buena of Ohio, Sylvia (Vic) Rivera of Arizona and Sally (Gilbert) Gutierrez of Sterling , CO .

Eleazar was preceded in death by his parents, two brother s Daniel and Joe Ocanas and his s on Jeff Nehls .

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 9-11 AM at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM following the visitation. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
