Elias Frenier, 93, a longtime Ft. Morgan resident died peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 15, 2010. Elias was born in Pierre, South Dakota on March 5, 1917 to John and Anna Mae Frenier. He enjoyed sports throughout his life with achievements including, All American in High School Football in 1936 and Golden Gloves in boxing in South Dakota also in 1936. He planned to play football for the Green Bay Packers after high school when a knee injury ended his football career. Instead, he channeled his great energy into his work in the newspaper industry. He worked for the Fort Pierre Times Review for 16 years, the Ft. Morgan Hearld for 7 years and for the Ft. Morgan Times until he retired at the age of 70. He then worked with his son, Rene' Frenier with Frenier floor Covering until he was 88. Elias was member of Saint Helena Catholic Church , the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club in Ft. Morgan. In his spare time he enjoyed Stock Car Racing. He became involved at the Morgan County Raceway shortly after it opened in 1967 and continued to help at I-76 Speedway until his heath prevented his participation. Elias was an avid fan and supporter of his grandson Jeremy Frenier's racing career. He lived and active and joyful life. He always had smiles and humor to share. Elias was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Yvonne, his brothers, Phillip, George, Louis, William, Percy and Peter, his sisters, Emma, Mollie and Margaret. He is survived by his son Rene' and his wife Jacque, by his granddaughter Angela Eicher and her husband D.J., by his grandson Jeremy Frenier and by his great grand children, Wiley and Arisa Eicher all of Ft. Morgan. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 3 until 7:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. There will be a Rosary Vigil following the visitation at 7:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the St. Helen Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Donations may be made to Fur-ever Friends or to the American Cancer Society. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
