Elias Alex Hernandez, 75, life resident of Morgan County, passed away Monday afternoon, September 24, 2007, at the Hospice & Palliative Care inpatient facility at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born July 3, 1932, near Snyder, CO, to Ezequiel & Rosa Hernandez. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He married Theresa Baltazar. They later divorced. He worked for several years at Sigman Meat Company in Brush until they closed. He then served as the manager for the laundry at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush until he retired. He also had a lawn mowing and snow removal business for many years. Alex loved to work, spend time talking and having coffee with his friends, playing his saxophone, and reading history books. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his 4 children, Sharon Michner of Evans, CO, Dawna Needens of Eaton, CO, Tim Hernandez and Doug Hernandez both of Fort Morgan; 3 sisters, Julia Sandoval of Colorado Springs, CO, Elvira Cervantez of Denver, and Irene McNulty of Billings, MT; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held Friday at the New Creations Foursquare Gospel Church, 1027 E. Burlington Street in Fort Morgan on Friday at 10:00 A.M.. The service will conclude at the church. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Heer Mortuary & Crematory in Brush.
