On December 9, 2021, Ella May King was called home to heaven.

May was born on September 27, 1943 to Alfred and Mildred Phillips in Hyannis, Nebraska. She was a hard worker, loving daughter, and caring older sister to her brother Ivan. May graduated from St. Agnus Academy in Alliance, Nebraska and shortly after married Larry Yeager in March of 1964. In December of that year, they welcomed their daughter Pamela May.

May and Larry later divorced and May moved to Colorado in 1969 where she worked as a store clerk. May then met and married Darrell King and welcomed sons Brad in June of 1974 and Brett in April of 1977.

After many moves and relocations, May ended up calling Brush, Colorado home. May worked as a waitress for Papa Simone and finally a "domestic engineer." She made friendships with many individuals, but called Betty Washburn her BFF for many years.

May loved reading, but her main joys were her grandkids and great grandkids. You could always find her at sporting events, concerts, and playing at the park or going for ice cream. May loved her kids, but being a grandma was her top priority.

In 2019 after losing her mother, May was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and lost her ability to be the independent woman she once and always was. With help from her granddaughter, Patricia May, her son, Brad, and daughter, Pam, she was able to live in her own home for the remainder of her life.  After two years with the disease, May was called home at the age of 78 while sleeping.

May was preceded in death by her father and mother. She leaves behind her brother, Ivan (Phyllis) Phillips of Whitman, Nebraska; daughter, Pam Yeager and her fiancé Ron Windolph, Jr of Fort Morgan; her sons, Brad of Brush, and Brett (Samantha) of Burlington, 9 grandkids, and 7 great-grandkids.
