Obituary

Ellen Cochran, 97, of Brush, CO passed away February 23, 2010. Ellen was born December 22, 1912 in Eaton, CO to S.A. and Amanda Johnson. Ellen met Carl in California, they were married in Neosho, MO; they lived in Orlando, FL until 1945 while Carl fulfilled his military obligation, after which, they moved to the Greeley area. She was a resident of Ft. Morgan for many years before moving to California to be near her daughters and their families after Carl's death. She resided at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center from 2002 until her death. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Carl L. Cochran, her parents, and six siblings. She is survived by her daughters Mary Ellen Tergina and Martha (Jerry) Cunningham; grand children Scott (Veronica) Schepker, Heather (Jason) Nicol, Stephanie (Kelly) Abbott; great grandchildren Joshua and Alyssa Schepker, Micaela and Morgan Nicol, David Abbott; siblings Annie Carlson, Marjorie Jensen, Marguerite Wright, Ray Johnson, Betty Mundy; sisters in law Ardy Johnson, Maxine Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Ellen spent many years as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts as a leader, annual cookie sales chair, and day camp activities. She was active in various volunteer aspects with the organization of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer congregation. Her devotion to her God and her church and it's ministries included teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Lutheran Church Women, assisting with the organizing of the annual Christmas Open House, helping with the detailed crafting of the Crismon ornaments for the Christmas trees, being a confidant to those in need, working on mission activities, and many more opportunities that served her community. She was a founding member of the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center Auxiliary, spending many hours making the lives of the residents more comfortable. Visitation will be at Heer & Dahl Mortuary Monday, March 1, 2010 from 4 PM to 7 PM. The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Richard Bachman at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer On Tuesday, March 2nd with viewing from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM and service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held immediately after the church service at Memory Gardens. A luncheon will be provided by the Lutheran Church Women for family and guests in Radloff Hall at the church after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers please provide donations to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center All Saints Chapel Organ Restoration Project or Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer Memorial Fund.
