It is with great sadness that the family of Ellen Elaine Gross (Thompson) announces her passing on December 10, 2020, at the age of 77 years.  Ellen was born on February 8, 1943 in Washington, Iowa to Clyde and Bertha Thompson.    She grew up on the family farm in Washington, Iowa with her four siblings, JoAnn, Carma, Arnold, and Allan.

After High School Graduation, she trained and worked as a beautician.  In 1967 she met and married Robert Dean Gross.  A marriage that lasted over 53 years.  Ellen worked for the University of Iowa Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 2000.  That sam year, Ellen and Bob moved to Sierra Vista, AZ to enjoy warmer climate and a retiree life style.  Ellen, desiring to stay busy, cleaned their church, private homes and businesses for several years. Ellen and Bob led an active social life centered around the local Elks Lodge.  Ellen was recognized as Auxiliary member of the year 2009-2010.

Ellen had a green thumb for plants of every kind, which she displayed in her home.  She was a great cook and loved to sew, crochet, knit, and create many crafts that her mother taught her to do when she was young.

In 2016, Ellen and Bob moved to Briggsdale, Colorado to be near family.  Not having any children of their own, they relished the time spent with nieces, nephews and their extended families.  Ellen will be truly missed by Bob, family, and friends.

There will be no services.  Inurnment will be at Cochise Memorial Gardens in Sierra Vista, AZ at a later date.
