Elmer Carl Bauer, 94, lifelong area resident, died, Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. Elmer was born May 24, 1917 in Ft. Morgan to Carl and Ida Bauer. He married Emma Weimer on November 13, 1938 in Ft. Morgan. Elmer was a member of the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. He was also a life member of the local Elks Lodge and a member of a Cattle Feeders Association. Elmer farmed and fed cattle in Morgan County in his younger years. Elmer enjoyed bowling and for years, sponsored a team, Bauer Farms, in the summer softball league in Ft. Morgan. He loved his family and they were very important to him, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Beck of Lakewood, CO, one son, Don Bauer of Ft. Morgan, one sister Lucile Smith of Mesa, Arizona, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma who died in 2003, his great-great grandson, Austin Bauer and his brother, Robert Bauer. There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 2 until 4 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the local Meet and Eat program or to the Christ Congregational Church. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
