Dick Lindsey, age 94, passed away on August 9, 2025 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado.  He was born to Elmer and Nellie Lindsey on January 31, 1931 in Rockford, Illinois.  Dick attended schools in Oregon, Illinois and graduated from Oregon High School.  He was a clerk typist in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953.  In 1954, he married Dixie Lee Whetsel.  He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering.  After graduation, Dick and Dixie returned to Rockford where Dick worked at Barber Coleman.

Dick and Dixie had three daughters, Carol Jo, Susan Marie and Jeanne Kay.

Dick started his own business called Label Art.  Later the name was changed to L & S Printing.  In retirement, he drove a bus for the Rockford School District, where he enjoyed driving teams to sporting events.

Dick enjoyed running, bicycling, playing softball, gardening and estate sale shopping.  He and Dixie belonged to "Card Club" for over 60 years.  This special group of friends enjoyed playing cards, eating, traveling, sharing stories and laughing.  He was a member of Jaycees and Lyran Society.  He was active at Third Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer, Trustee, member of Delta Club and a Sunday School teacher.  Dick and Dixie enjoyed traveling and had a second home in Belleview, Florida.

Dick is survived by his sister Margaret Adams, daughters Carol (Wayne) Johnson, Sue Lindsey and Jeanne (Fred) Fauerbach, as well as four grandchildren: Lindsey (Cody) Bruntz, Melissa (Donny) Edson, Michael (Taylor) Fauerbach and Lindsey (Cameron) Wall.  Included are nine great-grandchildren: Abby Edson, Bailey Bruntz, Owen Fauerbach, Riley Edson, Madison Wall, Evie Fauerbach, Wesley Fauerbach, Payton Bruntz and Jackson Wall. Also included are nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Dixie, his parents Elmer and Nellie, and his sister Lois Calhoun.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Rockford, Illinois.
