Elta F. Clay, 94, longtime Snyder area resident, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born December 16, 1923, in Paonia, CO to Walter & Eva Heaston.

On August 20, 1944, Elta married August Clay in Denver. They moved to the Snyder community shortly after. She was a member of the Snyder United Methodist Church; the Snyder Home Builders; a former board member of the Northeast Colorado Council on Aging; and the RE-2J School District Accountability Committee. She enjoyed helping and participating with the Morgan County Fair every year.

Surviving family include her kids, Van & Wilma Clay of Flower Mound, TX; Val & Sue Clay of Highlands Ranch, CO; Allyn Clay of Greeley, CO and Kerry Clay of Snyder; her grandchildren, Jason & Krisa Clay of Aurora, CO; Briar Clay – Dechant and Paul Dechant of Aurora, CO; Karissa Clay – Lai and Geoff Lai of Lakewood, CO; and Derek Somer of Highlands Ranch, CO; great grandchildren, Aiden & Gavin Clay of Aurora, CO. Also by 2 sisters, Zelda Crimm of Delta, CO and Martha Ann McKinney of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, August; her twin sister Elsie May Carver; her brother Dale Heaston; and her parents.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Brush United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. The Heer Mortuary is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Willard United Methodist Church; the Brush United Methodist Church; the Salvation Army, or the Fort Morgan Humane Society. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Heer Mortuary for distribution.
