Elva Margaret Steffen

October 22, 1925 ~ March 10, 2019

Entered her heavenly home on March 10, 2019 at Valley View Nursing Home in Fort Morgan, CO at the age of 93.  She was the daughter of Evert E. Northrup and Olive (Mitchell) Northrup.  She graduated high school from New Raymer, CO in 1944.  She worked at the JC CASE Company in Fort Morgan. On February 22, 1945 she married Elmo E. Steffen. They were married for 64 years. Elva was member of the Cherry Lot Club and Home Demonstration Organization.  They were blessed with three children Donna, Carol, and Ron. They lived on a farm between Fort Morgan and New Raymer for many years. After they sold their farm, they moved into Fort Morgan.  Elva and her husband Elmo became active volunteers at the Fort Morgan Senior Center and were also members of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan.

Elva was known for many amazing attributes, including her great ability to sew and bake. She made all of her daughter Donna's clothes as a young child out of flour and feed sacks.  Her family loved her famous pies, at family gatherings she would make everyone's favorite pies, including Raisin Sour Cream, Pecan, Pumpkin, Cherry and her picture-perfect Lemon Meringue.

She is survived by her daughter Donna (Jerard) Musgrave of Elkhorn, NE, son Ron (Kathy)Steffen or Aurora, CO, son-in-law Gary (Carol) Fiscus of Holyoke, CO, 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents Evert and Olive, her husband Elmo, her daughter Carol Steffen Fiscus, and her brothers and sisters.

A graveside service has been set for Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan, CO at 11:00 am.   Heer Mortuaries and Crematory are in charge of the services.
