Elven "Sam" W. Sandoz, 94, life resident of Morgan County, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Valley View Villa. He was born January 1, 1920, on the family farm near Brush to Alfred & Emma Sandoz. Sam enlisted in the US Army on Nov. 10, 1942 and served until his honorable discharge on April 8, 1944. After his discharge, Sam returned to Morgan County and farmed near Gary, CO, with his brother, Oliver. Farming was his passion in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include 3 sisters, Dorothy (Jerry) Rundle of San Diego, CA, Lorena Wertz and Betty Wertz both of Greeley; 9 nephews & nieces and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lola Sharp and Ilene Milburn; 2 brothers, Laurel (Bud) Sandoz, and Oliver Sandoz; and 1 niece. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 9, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Military honors by the US Army and VFW #3551 will be conducted at the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
